Melodale Beagles is a small personal concern, and while we enjoy showing occasionally, and other dog sports, breeding is not for money or acclaim. I usually only have maybe one or two litters per year, and will be striving to ensure health, quality, sound movement and structure, and excellent temperament in all that I breed. Starting with quality dogs meant that a good foundation was laid, and I will be carefully considering what bloodlines are included in my future breeding program. Whether show dogs or pets, Beagles in Australia should to be bred to the UK standard, and that is my aim. Puppies may be available from time to time only to suitable families and homes. We have relocated to the country, about half an hour from Bendigo, where the Beagles now have more room to run, sniff and play.

I have had and shown Beagles for many years. My prefix "Teviotdale" was an easy choice for me as my parents loved this area in the Border Country in Scotland. I did have a Beagle when I lived in the U.K. and brought him to Australia when I came over in 1985. Jodie was a very special dog and was very much loved. He died at the age of 15 1/2. My first Australian Beagle I bought and still have is Kate and her pedigree name is (Ch) Jansline Crystal Diamond. I have to say a big thank you to Sue and Steve for my very special girl. Kate was the start of my breed line and her progeny have done her proud. My Beagles are very much family house dogs. My main aim has always been to breed dogs of sound temperament to enable others to enjoy the pleasure of owning one of these special hounds.

I fell in love with this breed when I lived in the U.K. when I bought my Timmy (Dakinbrook Statesman) who was a tan and white boy. He came with me to Australia and had a lovely life for his full 15 years. My first "Australian" Beagle was (Ch) Jansline Zachary aka Zac who I bought from the Jansline Kennels. All my progeny are decented from the Jansline Kennels and they are bred for soundness and temperament. I show my Beagle in the confirmation ring as well as enjoying obedience and agility training plus lure coursing. They are so quick to learn but owners must stay one step in front of them.
