Nikobishunde is a small kennel owned by Nev and Miriam Kirkham, breeding for temperament and type, on the outskirts of South-West Sydney, Australia. All our dogs are considered part of the family. At Nikobishunde there are no kennels, just temporary penned area for puppies to play safely without being knocked over by over enthusiastic "bigger puppies". Dog breeds are "grouped" into various breed types and here in Australia, the GSD is in the Working Dog group. We do show our dogs in "Specialty" and "All Breeds" conformation shows but also see the dogs happiest when their working and having to utilise their intelligence. Being a very intelligent breed, they can get bored and this is where many owners run into issues. To keep our dogs active and interest up, they all attend show training, obedience training, sheep herding training, trips the the beach and pool and so on. After all, they are a working dog and not one for your lap (though they sometimes think other wise). They are especially not for leaving in the back yard.
