Lakelands are busy little creatures with an inquisitive mind. You need to have a fully fenced yard yard is a must as they are adventure seekers who crave companionship especially human. There are no known genetic health conditions in the breed , a few minor issues such as a incorrect tail set ( carried up over their back instead of straight) and misaligned teeth ( correct bite is a scissor) pop up occasionally which only affect the dogs show ability not their health. If they get bored they will seek and destroy and bad habits are quick to form and hard to break. Most lakelands do not get on with cats or small furry critters as they have been bred as a prey dog to hunt vermin, therefore they will see these as their natural job. Although Digby Dog on Instagram ( one of my pups) lives very happily with 20 year old Moses the cat. They are also free thinkers, and problem solvers this also comes from the breeding as they had to hunt independently. They normally leave to their forever home at 10-12 weeks.
