Along the way developing a fascination and tremendous love for the Stafford (I think spending so much time next to gorgeous staffies in the group specials classes may have contributed)Then after seeing my first blue I was so mesmerised by her colour and the way she seemed to shimmer, I had to have one and after some searching, research and patience now I we are lucky enough to have been owned by a gorgeous blue/brindle Shelby and her amazing daughters & now granddaughters. And yes they do own us, they have the run of the place and with that cheeky Staffy smile they get whatever they want. I couldn't be happier to promote Staffs and carry on my grans great hard work in breeding quality dogs to a standard. To strengthen our beautiful breed and keep Gilgai kennels reputation strong something Gilgai has always strived for. I have always been amazed by the tenacity and overwhelming presence of the Stafford and will never cease to be amazed by how much they are willing to love and give always. All our Dogs are "free range" and have the run of 5 acres. I have been personally involved with the Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed since I was 16 years old and have been successfully showing and breeding them for the last 12 years. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier has a very special place in my heart because to me they represent the perfect ‘all rounder’ type of dog. They are lovable, brave yet also sensitive, great with kids, easy to handle and live with (if socialised and trained correctly). This breed has brought me so much joy over the years and I can’t imagine my life without one. My dogs are DNA health tested to ensure they are not affected by HC, L2HGA and DM so I can feel comfortable that I am breeding dogs that are the best and healthiest example of the breed. I feed a raw food diet to help support a strong and healthy immune system so they can continue to be active and cherished members of the family. Lastly, a word about temperament. This is a breed that is naturally tenacious and so it is very important that all puppies are socialised from a young age so that they can grow to understand the world around them and not feel fearful or defensive around strange people or other animals. A well rounded stafford should be a dog that is able to accompany their owner anywhere with ease and after all that is the lifestyle that they also enjoy the most! We put a lot of effort into our pups to help them settle in to their new families and homes, this includes a great start on toilet training, familiarity with household appliances (to get them use to loud sounds such as vacuums,etc), they grow up around our kind and caring children who help handle them to get them used to children, the pups also socialise with both of their parents (a lot of studs don’t get the chance to meet their pups or get to play with them!) our Frank (Stud) adores his babies and is very loving and gentle with them.
