About This Breeder
Involved in Deerhounds for 20+ years. Showing & Lure coursing. Our prefix is Karawyndi. Planning our first Litter in 2026. We are ethical breeders that thoroughly test and screen our dogs for genetically linked hereditary and common health issues. We screen for CMR3, CMR3Lapphund variant, FactorVII deficiency, Depoghgen mutation, Liver shunt and cardiac abnormalities. Having healthy and sound dogs with wonderful temperaments is of paramount importance to us.

Breed - Deerhound Planned Litter - Jun, 2026
Fleur & Ross Hastings have had Deerhounds for over 20 years. Involved in showing, lure coursing and promoting the Deerhound breed, it seemed only natural to move into breeding. Ross & Fleur are aiming to breed healthy, sound puppies with great temperaments. As a retired nurse and qualified Dog Groomer who has Certificate III in animal studies, Fleur is committed to careful and ethical breeding. At Karawyndi, our dogs are tested for cardiac disease by sighthound experienced veterinary cardiologist. DNA testing is also attended to screen for genetic diseases. We test for Liver shunt, factor VII deficiency, delayed postoperative haemorrhage and CMR3 (retinopathy). We are proud owners of Forest ( Aust Ch Fyrth Loch Awe) and Wynter (Aust Ch Bhealaich Wynter Gem) and hope to commence breeding in 2026. They are our foundation for an exciting future. We are fortunate to work with other Australian breeders of Deerhounds in our endeavour to improve the health & genetics in our breed. We are proud Black Hawk Masterbreeders.
