George is Team Windlow's first King Charles Spaniel. He has been a fabulous addition to the household, and even though he has integrated well with the Cavaliers, he maintains his own unique “Charlie” personality. George was campaigned in the conformation ring as a neuter, earning his Neutered Champion title at the age of 11 months, and was awarded his final points for his Neutered Grand Champion title in August 2022. During his time in the show ring, he received regular recognition in Group lineups and won multiple Best Neuter in Specialty Show awards. In November 2016, George entered the Rally Obedience ring for the first time and earned a beautiful pass of 96 points. Less than a week later, he followed that up with two more passes, gaining his Rally Novice title at exactly 8 months of age. He achieved highly in multiple performance sport disciplines throughout his trialling career, especially in Tracking and Track and Search where he earned multiple Very Good and Excellent gradings for his work. George’s achievements in the show and trial rings have qualified him for the prestigious Triple Grand Champion title - for dogs that hold a Grand Champion title in both conformation and two different dog sports - and also for the recently introduced Multi Champion title - for dogs that hold a Champion title in both conformation and three or more different dog sports. He is the first King Charles Spaniel in Australia to earn a performance sports title of any kind, and records indicate that he is the first Charlie in the world to earn titles in the disciplines of Tracking and Dances With Dogs, as well as the first to hold champion titles in both conformation and a performance sport. Even though he has now retired from the show and trial rings, we continue to keep George’s mind and body active through regular enrichment activities and trips to our obedience club where he can “show off” to the newer dog/handler teams in the practice ring. While life with a Charlie is never entirely predictable, it is always entertaining, and George more than upholds his end of the bargain there.
