Judge Profile

Our family’s entrance into the world of showing was through Staffordshire Bull Terriers and in mid 1980 when I was aged just 13 years. This followed with the addition being Waurstafford Jasper (Butch). I was soon showing and becoming very successful on the Junior Handlers scene, when classes were quite large and extremely competitive. Butch went on to attain his Australian Championship and also CD title in obedience.

The Anvilhart prefix was registered in 1982 jointly with my mum Dawn Tomney. In 1983 - my first husband and I moved to Norseman in WA. (1900kms from Adelaide) Here we began to breed under the prefix of ‘Hartlow’, and had an active showing life between Kalgoorlie and Perth (710kms) while mum continued with the Anvilhart prefix in Adelaide. In 2002 mum and I joined again breeding under the Anvilhart prefix.

I obtained my first license (Terriers) in 1997, and after quite a break (having children of my own) I became All Breeds in 2021. I have judged in all states of Australia with overseas appointments in New Zealand, Wales, Thailand, Phillipines, Chile and South Africa.

We have campaigned and titled over 80 Staffordshire Bull Terriers including Eleven Supreme Champions (seven home bred) and 4 Grand Champions (two Home Bred). Our top winning dog Sup Ch, CIB Ch, A20 Ch Anvilhart Pray For The Wicked has set records being the first Stafford in Australia to attain all 3 titles. Mum and I are both life members of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of SA. I am also a committee member of other All Breeds Clubs
English Springer Spaniels joined our family in 2000 and we have enjoyed great success with this breed also.

Other breeds our family has owned and/or bred are Bull Terriers, Weimeraners, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Whippet, Hungarian Vizsla and more recently Siberian Huskies - again taking several of these through to not only Champion but also Supreme Champion titles.

I have 5 daughters of which four competed strongly also as Junior Handlers with some great successes. Two of my daughters - Renee and Mollie Hartnett, remain heavily involved in the dog scene and assist many young handlers still today.

Showing, judging and breeding our dogs is a great passion for myself and my family – with one of my granddaughters now beginning in tiny tots as well
