Judge Profile

Ulla is an ANKC all breeds judge, international FCI judge and accredited USA all breeds judge. She is a former Director and past President of the Canine Control Council (Qld) Ltd, (Dogs Queensland) for approximately 10 years. A lawyer by background, Ulla played a key role in its incorporation in 2012. Ulla has also been a director of the national body, the Australian National Kennel Council Ltd, (Dogs Australia) for many years and was on its executive from 2021 to March, 2023. Ulla is also a member of the Kennel Club.
Ulla was instrumental in establishing the Whippet Club of Queensland in 2008, and was its founding President. She has been passionate about the marketing our dog world and its many activities to the wider Australian community. Ulla has previously enjoyed announcing at the Royal National Association (Qld) dog show. For many years Ulla was the Secretary of the Ladies Kennel Association of Qld and the Qld Kennel Council and routinely sponsored the provision of accommodation for judges at those all breeds shows at Leatherwood Lodge at Brookfield, Brisbane. She continues to run the weekend of dog shows for the iconic Brookfield Show Society.
Ulla and her husband Andrew have bred and shown Piaffe whippets for more than 25 years and has imported top lines from Sweden and the US. They have bred and campaigned many Australian champions, including Supreme and Grand Champions. Ulla has judged Whippet Specialties both in Australia and New Zealand and has a forthcoming appointment in Sweden. Ulla had an early background with Afghan Hounds and is a breed specialist. A special milestone was judging the Italian Afghan Hound National at Lake Garda in 2017. Ulla has also judged Dachshund and Irish Wolfhound Specialties in New Zealand.
Ulla has judged extensively in every State in Australia and in New Zealand and also in Sweden, Spain, Italy, South Africa, Japan, China, the Philippines and the USA.
