Microchipping: Dog & Breeding Term Explained

What is Microchipping?

Microchipping is a procedure where a small electronic chip is implanted under a dog’s skin, containing a unique identification number linked to the owner's contact details.

Why Microchipping is Essential

If a dog is lost, shelters and vets can scan the microchip to reunite the pet with its owner. In most states, microchipping is a legal requirement - and will be completed by your Registered Breeder.

How Microchipping Works

A veterinarian or licensed microchipper injects the microchip, which remains in place for the dog’s lifetime. Owners must keep contact details updated in the microchip registry.
