Resource guarding is a behaviour where a dog aggressively protects food, toys, or other valued items from people or other animals.

Growling, stiffening, snapping, or lunging when someone approaches their food, toys, or resting space are common signs of resource guarding.
How to Manage and Prevent Resource Guarding
Gradual desensitisation, teaching "trade" or "leave it" commands, and creating positive associations with sharing help reduce resource guarding tendencies.
