I only have a small number of dogs, all who live as part of the family. I breed primarily for myself for the show ring, with the emphasis being on Soundness – the ability to work all day however harsh the conditions. Movement – to gait freely with the minium of up and down movement, covering the maximum amount of ground with the minimum amount of effort. Type – loss of type means loss of movement/soundness and working ability. Temperment – nervous, aggresive or highly excitable dogs can be unreliable in the show ring, in the home or in the paddock. The Standard – the blueprint of the breed. I have successfully campaigned my dogs in 6 states/territory of Australia. All dogs are PRA DNA tested or are PRA obligate free and Baer tested.

Although space and physical exercise are important, and swimming facilities would be high on a cattle dogs fun things to do list, interactive owners who spend time with, and do things with their dogs are more important. Cattle Dogs are great problem solvers, so mental stimulation is extremely important. If you don't provide it your cattle dog my instigate his own!
