Old Rowley Cavalier King Charles Spaniels kennel was established in 1976 by Bill and Bronwyn Murdoch. Since then, we have owned, bred and successfully exhibited Cavaliers and Japanese Chins. We continually strive to improve the quality and health of our Cavaliers and have imported Cavaliers from successful breeders in the United Kingdom and Australia, including the world famous Homerbrent Cavaliers (UK) on which our Old Rowley lines are based. We have recently added to our lines by importing frozen semen from the leading Cavalier breeder in Ireland. All our Cavaliers are fully health tested, including DNA testing for inherited diseases than can appear in Cavaliers. Copies of health certificates are available on request. We live in Central Hawke's Bay where our Cavaliers enjoy their rural lifestyle. We welcome anyone interested in Cavaliers to visit and see our dogs and discuss this delightful breed. Puppies are occasionally available, and we welcome enquiries. Details on some of our dogs can be seen on the dog profiles. Ellamour Cavaliers - based in Petone, Wellington. Our first pedigree Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was a pet named Ella upon which our Kennel name is based. My husband and I fell in love with this breed and our goal is to raise the best Cavaliers possible, balancing health, temperament, soundness, and overall breed type, in a home environment. I have been exhibiting cavaliers in the show ring since 2019. My founding bitches are from reputable and respected breeder, Anne Dobie of Glengariff Kennels (Est 1975). I am extremely thankful to her for entrusting us with her pedigree, sharing her breed knowledge, and being the best mentor. All our dogs are DNA tested for parentage, “dry eye, curly coat + episodic falling” and hold current heart certificates at time of mating. We do our utmost to breed healthy puppies and invest in importing semen from international Champion health tested dogs. We welcome people interested in this loving breed to visit us, meet our Cavaliers, and see the home environment they are raised in.

Glengariff Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are synonymous with quality, type and soundness. I purchased my first Cavalier, Millie Mandy a mismarked black 'n tan from a pet shop in Paraparaumu in the mid 1970's and decided she needed a companion. We found a blenheim male for sale and the breeders said "why don't you come along to a show" - that was us hooked, Millie Mandy has a lot to answer for. In 1980 we acquired an English dog Ch Amantra Kings Rhapsody and then having researched the type we loved approached Molly Coaker of the famous West of England Homerbrent Cavaliers and were lucky to purchase Homerbrent Cardinham, the biggest winning Cavalier ever in NZ who was the first NZ Grand Champion. Homerbrent Junesta then joined us and was the mum of the second Grand Champion Glengariff Carnaby. More Homerbrents joined us over the following years and are behind our Cavaliers today. We have recently imported Irish semen, from our friend Michael Hegarty and are lucky to have secured semen from an International Champion Riverdale of an Excellent Choice (Holland) who has sired our two current youngsters making their presence felt. We are proud of the contribution our dogs have, and continue to make to the breed and that other breeders also have success in the competition ring and breed on with them. As well as breeding cavaliers that adhere to the breed standard, charm your heart and eye, we are committed to the ongoing health of our Cavaliers.

All my dogs are DNA tested and tested for Episodic Falling (EF) and Curly Coat Syndrome (CCS/Dry Eye). Additionally they are assessed by a specialist cardiologist annually,. My dogs (and puppies) live with me in my home. When I do have a litter, which is not often, I welcome visitors to see the environment my puppies are raised in.
