Chowleigh Kennels was established in 1972 by Bob and Merle Williams and today is also helped by daughters Narelle and Claire. Chowleigh Kennels have imported 19 Chow Chows over the years from both the UK and USA. They are currently working with lines from both countries which have allowed them to produce quality examples of the breed and the pedigrees they work with and produce can be found in many foundation dogs of kennels around the country and in NZ. Consistently producing Best In Show and Group winners, Chowleigh Kennels ultimately aim to produce puppies which not only look great on the outside but are also healthy and sound. They have been hip scoring their breeding dogs since 1982 and elbow scoring since 1994 and hope to see the breed continue on its way to a long and healthy future. We have been breeding chows for over three decades. Our emphasis is on developing chows with the best temperament to be companion pets. That being said, many of our pups are shown in conformation. Our chow pups are reared in-house and have the best possible start. The dam and sire have been health checked with hip and elbow imagining by the Reproductive Veterinary practice attending to the health of our chows. At 4 weeks, new chow parents are invited to visit our happy canine family and a pup is allocated. Pups are vet-checked, vaccinated, microchipped. From 8 weeks old, pups go to their forever homes.
