Schlau Miniature Long Haired Dachshunds is a small select kennel that has specialised in the breeding and showing of this variety for 45 years with in excess of fifty Australian and International Champions. We are constantly striving to improve the breed as a whole with carefully planned breeding programs and a natural diet, which enhances the health and wellbeing of the puppies that we breed. We usually only breed to enhance our show team but sometimes have puppies and mature dogs available to loving homes. All puppies are provided with a puppy pack, limited registration papers, will have been on a regular worming program from 2 weeks of age, vaccinated and micro-chipped before going to their new homes. In working to improve the breed all stock has been PRA tested. The Foundation lines of Splendak are based on lines with solid temperaments. Our little family of dachshunds are all PRA Cord 1 Clear by Parentage dogs. We do not kennel our dachshunds , and they live as part of the family in our home. We are a small kennel. I have titles in the show ring, and obedience ring. My dogs are all roar food, diet and positive trained. I look after the physical and mental health. of them I am on 3 1/2 acres. My dogs are not, kenneled and they are inside at night my puppies will stay with us to 12 weeks of age They are positive trained by the time they go to their new families they will be clicker trained taught to sit drop touch and recall. They will be used to travelling in a car socialised with other dogs and people. They will be trained to use a kitty litter tray with kitty litter in it! They have been using a doggy door from about five weeks of age and using it to go to the toilet outside about sixty percent of the time.all the dogs and puppies are on a raw food diet. The puppies will have their first vac will be microchipped and have a general blood test and vet checked three times.the puppies will come with a desexing contract and be on a limited register? Artie and Maliya welcomed five beautiful puppies on the 5th of July 2025. Two black and tan girls, two black and cream boys and one black and tan boy. Breeder and exhibitor of miniature and rabbit (kaninchen) long-haired dachshunds. Have been researching the breed, pedigrees, and structure + function since 2017. My lines are largely international to improve the genetic diversity seen in Australia, and include some beautiful lineages seen globally. My primary focus for my fur-children is to ensure their health and the health of their babies. I extensively study pedigrees and biomechanics of movements plus perform health testing to maximise the health of puppies. Correct structure is vital for health, ensuring your breeder is breeding to optimise structure is paramount. We back score our parents. This is an x ray protocol well-researched from Finland that looks at the calcifications in the spine. These scores are used to determine the inherited risk of IVDD. I try to pair with well known lines, or to dogs that have been scored. We also have had their knees and hips assessed and graded to assess the risk of potentially inherited hip dysplasia and patella subluxation. PRA (progressive retinal atrophy, a type of blindness) is tested on all adults, and pairings for breeding ensure there is no chance pups will be affected by PRA. My puppies are all raised in my home, as part of the family. They are raised with Early Neurological Stimulation in the first 2 weeks, and Puppy Culture Socialising protocol to engage their social skills and development to form well-rounded puppies ready for their new life.
