Having obtained my first Springer pet in 1985, I have successfully shown my team in New Zealand and Australia, breeding the occasional litter. All dogs have their eyes tested and hips scored before being bred from - but most important is of course the temperament. My lines are a mix of Australian, Sandanavian and English. I have a comprehensive breed introduction pack, prepared and fine tuned over the 20 plus years I have been owned by Springers. If you are interested in a pet, agility, obedience, working Springer - I have bred many that are successful in this arena. If you want a show Springer - this can be discussed; I only breed when I want something for myself, so all pups get five star treatment. I am qualified in Canine Behaviour and Canine Husbandty from the respected Massey Veterinary University - New Zealand. Plus I have a recognised Australian certificate in Canine Behaviour. At Thornfield we aim to bring out the best in every dog we own. Our dogs compete successfully in retrieving, agility, tricks, obedience and endurance tests, from local events to National competitions. Our field-bred (working lines) English Springer Spaniel, Em (Wrangham Cathy Earnshaw RRD ADX JDM GD SD) was our introduction to the breed and was competitive in both retrieving and agility as well as proving herself in the field. We welcomed her daughter, Ginny (Thornfield Empower AD JDX TKS), granddaughters Luna (Thornfield Gin Bijou ADX JDM JDO GD SD TKS) and Delphi (Thornfield Tanqueray Gin JDX GD TXS) and great-granddaughter Envi (Thornfield Molly Malone), enjoying every step of their journeys as they follow in her footsteps. We are also the proud home of Australia's first and only ANKC Agility Champion Dalmatian, Ziggy (AG CH 600 Yarrowfell High Society CD ADM ADO JDM JDO2 GD SD ET). Occasionally we have field-bred English Springer Spaniel puppies available that would suit hunting, retrieving, field trial, agility, obedience, tracking or active family homes. We are a small boutique breeder of "show type" dogs - only having a litter when the time is right for our dogs and ourselves. Our puppies have been selected by other breeders and some beautiful members of the public, from all over Australia and New Zealand, who have enjoyed the presence of a Mudpuddle English Springer in their lives. We breed for soundness, temperament and conformation. We have taken part in showing our dogs but are more recently enjoying the obedience disciplines that our local dog club has to offer.
