KAYEM are located in Hobart, Tasmania and work in partnership with John & Christine Musty (BRIGHTLEAF) in country NSW. We breed to the German Pinscher standard not to the generic, but flashy, show dog standard. We do not breed two litters together, we believe every single litter deserves our full time attention to allow the puppies to develop at the pace that’s best for them, not that’s convenient for us and our bragging rights. We believe “mum knows best” and our girls wean their puppies at the optimal time for both mum and puppies, not at a time that’s convenient for us. Our puppies, and dogs, really do live in our house as part of the family, not just for cute photo opportunities. We raise our puppies with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and the “Rule of The "Rule of 7" - for puppy rearing is a socialization guideline suggesting that by 7 weeks of age, a puppy should have been exposed to at least seven different people, seven new locations, and seven different experiences (which can include surfaces, sounds, or toys). This early and varied exposure helps raise a well-adjusted, confident, and adaptable dog. We include 7 different types of protein when getting puppies used to solid food - beef, chicken, turkey, salmon, pork, rabbit etc etc. we believe this helps producing puppies that aren’t fussy eaters, or prone to allergies. We do not take “deposits” for future puppies, leaving you on a waiting list for possibly years. We will breed 2 litters in 2026.
