I have held my breeders prefix for many years and I continue to show and breed when I can. I am a members of Dogs Vic, The GSD club of Victoria, I am currently the Branch Manager of the Gippsland Branch. I am also involved with two kennel clubs. I actively show in Victoria and New South Wales. I strongly believe in the breed schemes and as such DNA testing for known hereditary issues has become an integral part of breeding in my kennel. Gewalt Kennels are based in the Adelaide Hills. We have a small number of top quality, select animals. Our dogs are a major part of our family, and interact daily with our children and each other. They have a couple of acres in which to run and play, and it's a race each morning for the dogs to get out of the house yard and into their 'play' areas. All of our adult dogs (ie any of our dogs used in our breeding program) have passed any and all possible breed specific health and genetic testing available, be it compulsory or optional. We breed registered purebred dogs, each of whom has a pedigree that goes back many generations. Our puppies and dogs are family first, show and breeding dogs second. They DO NOT live in kennels, but in our home. As a registered ANKC breeder, we abide by a code of ethics and are answerable for our dogs' health and welfare. We occasionally have puppies or older dogs available, with the emphasis being on sound, healthy, family friendly dogs.

Nikobishunde is a small kennel owned by Nev and Miriam Kirkham, breeding for temperament and type, on the outskirts of South-West Sydney, Australia. All our dogs are considered part of the family. At Nikobishunde there are no kennels, just temporary penned area for puppies to play safely without being knocked over by over enthusiastic "bigger puppies". Dog breeds are "grouped" into various breed types and here in Australia, the GSD is in the Working Dog group. We do show our dogs in "Specialty" and "All Breeds" conformation shows but also see the dogs happiest when their working and having to utilise their intelligence. Being a very intelligent breed, they can get bored and this is where many owners run into issues. To keep our dogs active and interest up, they all attend show training, obedience training, sheep herding training, trips the the beach and pool and so on. After all, they are a working dog and not one for your lap (though they sometimes think other wise). They are especially not for leaving in the back yard. Bred the first litter of German Shepherd puppies in 1997, the foundation dam "Tweety" produced 52 live puppies till 8 years old in 2003, she past away in 2009 aged 13. Kept a couple of her progenies, but the temperaments just could not compare with "Tweety". Was very fortunately been referred to Mr Karl Pahl the founder of Alpinebase German Shepherds, allocated a female puppy Alpinebase Onja when she was 12 weeks old in May 2014, this is the best drive working line German Shepherd I have ever seen probably nationwide. A couple of months later, I adopted a young male German Shepherd with a very high prey drive coupled with an excellent ability to take instructions from his breeder Mr David Sambell of Kohletal German Shepherds, Kohletal Aussie is also a very athletic dog who can comfortably clear the 1m hurdle and scaled the 6 foot A frame without any difficulty. Both of them are having excellent Hip and Elbow X-Ray scores. This is also the reason encourages me to get back to breeding. Our puppies are Big Bond / Straight Back Working Line Type, We are Proud of the Imposing Physique of our dogs, with their Pigment, Large Blocky Heads, and Solid Bone Structure, all these are the reassuring sights on an Old Style Working Line German Shepherd Puppy. Many of our dogs go to working environments. Most go to domestic families seeking home security. Almost all end up in a dual role as playmates for the children. All of our brood bitches and stud dogs are much loved family members.
