Having Leonbergers a big part of our life for 20+ years, our dogs are our family first. Regularly attending social events with family and friends, car cruises, beach outings, market trips and more. We pride ourselves breeding much loved family pets as well as quality, sound show/breeding dogs with a focus on health, temperaments, longevity and expanding genetics. We aim to breed strong, healthy, good natured dogs who will become loving members of your family. Our dogs are well socialised in the local community and are raised in the family home with grandchildren ranging in age from 1 to 17 years visiting often. They can get into mischief with the teenagers but can also be extremely gentle with the 1 year old. They are a breed you will absolutely fall in love with. We have been breeding since we welcomed our first girl, Meia, from New Zealand in 2010. She was a beautiful girl and we currently have two of her great grandchildren living with us. In 2020 we were blessed with the arrival of our girl Kiia from the Czech Republic. She has just had her second litter and has been the most amazing mother.

Our love affair with Leos began almost 20 years ago. Our first Leo, Sabra, was from the 1st litter to NZ in 1995. We remained pet free for a few years but when we purchased this land 12 years ago it was a good time to start our doggie family again. And so began our collection of lions. We love our dogs , they are a big part of our family. Big is the operative word here. Big in every which way. Big feet, big tongues, big coats,big appetites and big hearts. If you have room, not only on your section but in your family then these wonderful dogs will be the best addition to your lives. Our personal search for new genetics to secure the future of Leonbergers in NZ has been fruitful with 3 young imported dogs added to our collection in the past year. We have also formed some very strong international friendships on this journey and feel honoured that these friends have understood our vision and entrusted us with their lines.

Miss Indie has been socialised with many animals from ponies and goats to cats and birds. Her main love is people, from as young as 3mths old and is always ready for cuddles or a belly scratch. She is first and most importantly a member of our family, and resident couch hog. In March 2019 Indie became the youngest Leonberger in Australia to gain their AUSTRALIAN GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP title! A Berglöwe puppy isn't just a dog, they are a family member, and we will only place our babies in the best, preferably indoor, homes. Our babies are all raised in our home around the family. Please understand, this is a hobby and not a business so please send serious enquires only. For anyone around Sydney, I offer show mentoring for those thinking of showing their Berglöwe puppy. All our Leonbergers are health tested (hip and elbow scored, eyes including gonioscopy etc) and temperament checked to ensure only healthy and balanced puppies are born. All of our girls are negative/clear for the four breed specific genetic conditions. After getting our first leonberger in 2013, we instantly fell in love with the breed and soon one leonberger became two...and two became three....and on it goes! After hundreds of hours of discussions we decided to set up our own breeding kennel and searched for genetics across the world and followed the progress of litters and kennels with our vision of importing genetics which would help strengthen the genetic pool in New Zealand. We have been lucky to establish strong connections with a number of breeders in Europe who we have been working with over the past few years. Our breeding lines are very carefully planned and have some of the top lines from Sweden, Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Ireland, The Netherlands, Denmark, Hungary, Belgium and Russia. Our leos are all health tested before breeding and we breed for temperament, soundness and the breed standard. We do not do repeat litters. Enquiries are welcome, and we are happy to organise for you to meet some of our leos at a public venue. We have been loved and owned by Leonbergers since 2002. Over the years we have imported dogs from Sweden, Australia and the UK and have had the pleasure of making up numerous NZ Champions. Schiehallion is a small kennel concentrating on producing dogs with excellent temperaments and conformation. We breed to continue our excellent lines and to show so we have limited litters with some matings being a long time in the planning! Our puppies are registered with the NZ Kennel Club and come with a lifetime of support. All our matings are carefully considered and our dogs must pass strict health tests prior to a mating being considered. Since `2011 we have also owned and shown Weimaraners. Due to the high demand for Leonbergers most people are on a waiting list and it is advisable to register your interest so your chosen breeder can keep in contact with you.
