Capebass has been established for many years, but we have owned Newfoundlands since 1975.Capebass strives to breed quality, sound Newfoundlands. To improve our lines we have imported semen and dogs from overseas countries such as Hungry, USA and England. We are committed to breeding quality Newfoundlands, by using such lines as to assist our own. Out of the litters I've bred I've produced a best in show winner who also won the group at Adelaide Royal, I have also owned a bitch that won best opposite sex at our Newfoundland Championship show, twice. Her daughter went on to win a best in show at our breed open show, Bitch challenge at Melbourne royal and now her pups have gone on to win in group and in show awards all three of which were titled at a young age. We are home to 1 Home bred Grand Champion Jack- GR CH, Capebass Wish upon Astar and we have successfully successfully shown our Polish import Cezar - GR CH Cezar Cancrimo to his Grand champion title We are also proud to be the breeders of the first International champion (FCI) in Australia. At "Ebbenglade" we breed only occasionally , specialising in quality black & brown newfoundlands exhibiting the hallmark beauty, gentleness & intelligence of the newfoundland. Newfoundlands have been a big part of our lives since the early 1980's with many Show Winners,Champions and Obedience Title holders owned by us or carrying the Ebbenglade prefix. Ebbenglade Newfoundlands is situated two hours west of Melbourne Victoria, where each litter is loving raised within the home with the family. On our property, our newfies share their kingdom with our alpaca herd, finnsheep and peacocks. Our dogs enjoy obedience work, showing and above all being "couch potatoes".

After falling in love with the breed, we undertook immense research to preserve the breed standard. We hope to contribute to the gene pool in Australia by introducing new lines from Europe. Our focus is producing puppies for showing & pet homes, as we strive for overall soundness alongside health, temperament, and type. While we are a small kennel based in Melbourne, we do not breed often. However, when we do have a litter, we raise our puppies in our family home using the puppy culture method over a 9-week period. This ensures our puppies head off to their new homes well rounded and confident. We enter our dogs in conformation showing & have been fortunate to gain 2 x Australian Champion titles. Clazzic is a small kennel located in the south eastern suburbs of Victoria, after over a decade of learning and being mentored by Capebass kennels we have decided to also starting on our breeding path. The foundation for our kennel comes from the first International Champion Newfoundland in the country, Marvin (Int. Ch. Aust. Ch. SOM Capebass Moccona Classic) We were also lucky enough to lease Dior (Ch. Capebass Sign of the Times) for our first litter in 2022 Tilly (Ch. Clazzic There Goes Gravity) has thrived in her home co-owned by Michelle Ramsdale. Our Marvin daughter Sophie (C.I.B A2O GR Ch Aust Grand Ch Newfashion A Little Bit Tipsy at Clazzic) she had excelled in both the ring and the whelping box. Her first litter born 2024, has 3 puppies in the ring, her son Theodore (A2O CH C.I.B-J Aust SUP Ch Clazzic Marvellous Creation)is the youngest Supreme Champion in Australian history for the breed, her daughter Nina (C.I.B-J Aus Ch Clazzic Melting Moment at Capebass) is also incredibly successful at Capebass Kennels and Lainey (Ch. Clazzic Smore to Love) finished her title at the end of 2025 after being awarded Runner-up Best of Breed at The Melbourne Royal Show 2025 behind Sophie. Our foundation bitch, Aust CH Capebass Love in the Shadows, is an integral and active member of our family. She is frequently found lounging on the couch or exploring the Yarra Valley.
