Benbowin is a small devoted kennel in Central West NSW, with over 40 yrs experience in Purebred Dogs. Welcoming enquiries and happy to share information and encouragement of this delightful hound the Basset. Benbowin Basset hounds are seen in the Showring, working homes and Family lounges with loving natures and larrikin characters.

Cayugaridge has been breeding basset hounds after competing in the hound ring for over 15 years with standard wire dachshunds and breeding American cocker spaniels for over 20 years in the USA. Our lines are based on imported American and European lines, as well as Australian lines from Beauchasseur basset hounds. We test all our dogs for key basset hound health issues including LaFora, POAG, severe autoimmune syndrome and thrombocytopaenia. We pride ourselves on great basset temperaments, type and correct movement. We've imported and added leading European lines to enhance our breeding program in 2025 with importation of both Van Grunsven and Grand Grades sires. In 2024, we showed the No. 1 leading breed point winner in NSW, our tricolour Fern, Ch Cayugaridge Chartreuse, and No.2 breed point earner in the nation, tricolour Fitz, Ch Cayugaridge Curacao. Our pretty red and white youngster Ch Dowjacs Bejamin Button AI was No. 1 rising star in NSW and No. 3 rising star nationally. In 2025, Ch Cayugaridge Chambord and Cayugaridge Camus in the top rising star and breed point earners, sired by our tricolour Curacao out of the Botanist. We have two litters planned in late 2025 with both Ch Cayugaridge Chartreuse and Ch Dowjac Miss Priscilla bred to our young sires, potentially delivered in late December. Our recent Fitz litter with Dotti aka Woodenhead Juliet has produced 11 llovely pups now sold. Next litter coming in December 2025.

We live on half an acre and dogs are part of our large family which also includes nine humans! Our dogs spend their days playing with children, relaxing in the sunshine and have access to the house as well. We keep small farm animals including chickens and geese and also have house cats, plus horses over the back fence so our dogs are exposed to all sorts of animals. We are health and fitness focused, striving for dogs that are truly fit for purpose and capable of the kind of ease of movement that a well structured hound should have. We will only breed from dogs tested genetic testing clear for Lafora, POAG and thrombopathia as well as conducting PCAG and heart examinations. Breeder / Exhibitor We are a small kennel located in the Upper Hunter Valley, our dogs are reared inside and part of our family environment, they are well socialised with our family pet. Cats / Ferrets. We strive to breed quality hounds, our main focus is to produce correct hounds that conform to the breed standard, type, genetic, mental, physical and breed soundness. Only selective dogs that have had the relevant health testing to the breed will be used in our breeding program. Genetic testing, clear for Lofara, POAG and thrombopathia as well as completed acceptable PCAG and heart examination.
