Erdos is a small kennel est. 1994 although previously breeding in a partnership under the Erdei prefix. Having also owned many more, Erdos has bred 21 Aust. We show lightly and have 2-3 litters per year. Our dogs have good hip scores. We have taken 8 puppies through to Australian Champion and 2 through obedience to Open level. Our pups are raised in the house until 4 weeks, then move to a large shed with our other dogs. For 25 years we lived at Gordon near Ballarat. In 2022, we moved to Nagambie in north central Victoria. Here is a comment from a recent buyer 'He's an angel, such a smart cookie. It feels like he almost understands every thing. He is just absolute perfection'. We love this breed but it is not for everyone. Vizslas are very active and want company all the time. They don't do well left alone during the day. It is best to have someone at home during the day. Buyers should be prepared to exercise daily and to spend a lot of time with the dog. Vizslas also like another dog for company and will do best if you already have a dog. You can get an idea about the breed by looking at facebook Vizsla pages, but pay attention to the negatives and the positives. Some dogs can be anxious and develop separation anxiety and barking. The All Round Companion Hunter - Breeding for Soundness, Temperament, Working and Show. My dogs happily go from sleeping on the bed .. to swimming the widest river .. to searching out feather or fur game .. to strutting their stuff in the show ring .. and back home to be lap dogs and loved pets! They have also successfully competed in agility, obedience and field trials. My involvement with Vizslas began in 1990. A growing dedication to the breed has seen me set out to learn as much as I can. This includes joining international lists and discussing the breed with people around the world, traveling to different countries to see other dogs, importing semen and starting a national breed newsletter. My dedication continues with an education campaign to help new people understand the breed and give an idea about breeders responsibilities. Kenoz/Kenishka Hungarian Vizslas originated in the UK as Kenazorora with the mating of my Hookside Kamas at Kenazorora to Ch Helmlake Life at the Top with Dallandor (the first show and working Champion bitch in the UK for 10 years). The result was Dallandor Natalia at Kenazorora who was an excellent foundation bitch being both the mother to Edie - Ch Kenazorora Krani JW , Mollie - Kenazorora Kristiana (BCC winner Crufts 2010- bitch entry 111) and Tiga - Ch Kenazorora The Sun King who was imported to Tasmania by Faye Harris (Hanafor), all sired by my Eng Sh Ch Gardenway Drummond. I breed for temprament, health,type and all round ability. Puppies with my bloodlines have, as well as winning at Crufts, are being worked with Hawks,working as professional gamekeepers/hunters dogs, being used as "PAT" dogs, training for Police Drug Detection, and doing Tracking and Agility as well as being excellent all round pets and family dogs! I purchased my first Hungarian Vizsla in 1994 and the breed has been a major part of my life ever since. I am now at my sixth generation. Along the way "Fritz" was imported from Germany and "Studly" who was born in quarantine and a direct descendant from the famous Hungarian Matai Kennels. We have been breeding vizslas for over 10 years. I have been hunting for 40 years with many different breeds. I fell in love with vizslas and I got my first vizsla Lara 13 years ago in 2011. Lara was a great hunting dog, hunting quail and retrieving ducks. We said goodbye to our dear friend in early 2022. She gave me great pleasure and enjoyment when I went out hunting. Lara was wonderful at home with the family and very friendly. She was like velcro. She was bred from international hunting blood lines and show lines. To replace her I started breeding. The photo is Marley one of Lara's pups which I kept. I also kept a daughter Lexi. To keep the strong hunting lines, I imported a bitch Xena from a US hunting kennel. Xena has been mated and is pregnant and expecting pups early December 24. Xena is a small vizsla. The father is a medium dog so the puppies are likely to be small to medium when grown. Our first introduction to Vizsla was when we purchased Taz (Essential Gold of Hi-VIz) in 2003. We fell in love with the short hair, velvet golden coat, the eagerness to please, and the gentle yet energetic nature of our dog. We added a bitch, Ponsonby Golden Ruby. In 2012 we registered Shemariah Kennels with DOGSNZ. All our dogs are hip and elbow-scored. As a hunter I have primarily bred for the hunting fraternity, keeping the odd pup to continue our wonderful lines. As a passionate Pedigree Jersey cow breeder, my breeding has been greatly influenced by my understanding that form dictates function. Without correct confirmation, both longevity and a physically productive life are compromised. Hence, I have established lines using Show Champion Dogs where possible. Never just using "Zac" down the road because he is an awesome hunter. In more recent years I have endeavoured to expand the NZ bloodlines by importing semen from 3 different dogs from Europe. Again, my selection criteria has been around excellence in conformation and National or International show winnings, combined with a very strong hunting lineage and prowess. We have been vizsla owners for the past 20 years and believe they are the most wonderful breed imaginable. We live on a rural property in Red Hill, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria where our vizslas enjoy farm life. Our dogs are keen stalkers of wildlife and love swimming. They are extremely active, playful and affectionate. We are infrequent breeders of high quality vizslas. We follow the breed standard and focus on breeding for affectionate temperament, instinctive ability and correct conformation.
