Kamania Rhodesian Ridgebacks are located in Bendigo Victoria. I have been involved with this Majestic breed since 1995 but, it all started in the mid 70's when I was much younger. My Uncle introduced me to his Rhodesian Ridgeback- via film and photos, from when he lived and worked in Rhodesia, (now Zimbabwe) with the locals and their families. I fell instantly in love at the beauty of his dog 'Caesar' and the wonderful stories he would tell me. As it would turn out- 20 years later, when I was to purchase my first dog, it had to be a Rhodesian Ridgeback. My first 3 Rhodesian Ridgebacks have since gone to the Rainbow Bridge and it is their qualities I strive to achieve in my breeding program. Exceptional temperament, soundness and beauty are the key elements to selectively produce the occasional litter- either for the show ring or for loving family pets. All dogs used for breeding have had their hips and elbows x-rayed and scored. Also a full DNA profile is done for each dog prior to breeding to check for health issues that can affect Rhodesian Ridgebacks- i.e. DM (Degenerative Myelopathy), JME (Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy). Puppies are checked at birth (and then weekly) for Dermoid Sinus. Our focus is on producing exceptional quality Rhodesian Ridgeback puppies, with careful consideration given to both temperament and breed characteristics. As a family with young children, we are especially selective in choosing calm, well balanced breeding pairs. Our aim is to produce confident, stable puppies that are not highly strung and are well suited to family life dogs we would proudly and confidently recommend to our own friends and family. We understand that choosing a breeder and welcoming a new companion into your home is both an exciting and challenging experience. When we started our own journey, the most challenging part was finding a breeder we felt comfortable engaging with openly—someone who encouraged questions and made us feel genuinely involved with the litter from the very beginning. That experience shapes how we work with our puppy families today. All enquiries are responded to in a timely manner, and we are happy to guide you through every step of the decision making process. Adding a Spontanfin puppy to your family is a significant commitment, and we are here to support you throughout the journey. We offer lifetime, ongoing support and advice to all our puppy owners. Our breeding dogs have undergone hip and elbow scoring and completed all breed required health testing. Interstate transport can also be arranged.
