Breeding is not an art — it’s a science. With over a decade of experience in Japanese and working breeds, ITABASS began with American Akitas, producing several Australian Champions, and later introduced the Japanese Akita — deepening our passion for Japan’s noble canine heritage. In 2022, we proudly welcomed our first imported pair of Shiba Inu, chosen for their exceptional type, temperament, and health. Each of our Shibas undergoes comprehensive health screening, including hip and elbow scoring and full DNA testing, ensuring every dog meets the highest standards of soundness and breed integrity. As dedicated breeders, the welfare of our dogs and the preservation of their future are our highest priorities. For this reason, we have made the considered decision to gradually retire from breeding Shiba Inu in the coming years — a choice made out of deep respect for their health, heritage, and sustainability.
