My passion for whippets was ignited by my heart dog Petrie six years ago, and I've been dedicated to the breed ever since. Here at Gunarryn we only breed sparingly, generally only 1 or 2 litters every couple of years, every litter is bred to the highest standard and reared in our home. Welcome to Twmbarlwm (pronounced Tomb-bar-loom) whippets. Difficult to pronounce given the lack of vowels, unless you have a Welsh background! A nod to an ancient hill fort near my childhood home, to which I have walked many times. The views are unforgettable over the River Severn Estuary and Bridge, across to Bristol and over the lush Welsh Valleys. Since a child whippets have been a part of the family, both in Wales & Australia. A very confident and smart whippet ‘Jasmine’ was the catalyst for my research into breeding practices. Jasmine left us at the young age of 7 due to an inherited condition of Mitral valve disease and pulmonary stenosis, we were devastated. This event was the beginning of my research journey into canine genetics, nutrition, structure and movement, along with best practice puppy socialization. Lots of reading, courses and exams and I am now at the point of starting my breeding program. I have gained a certificate in canine genetics, an Educated Breeder Certificate from Therapy dogs Australia Breeder Standards and am continuing to build on my nutrition knowledge with a 12 month Professional Certification in canine biological nutrition & dietetics. I am also completing a canine first aid course.
